Before you start...
Welcome to the application form for the Realising Opportunities (RO) programme. The information here aims to make sure you're as prepared as possible to complete all sections of your application. Once you submit your application you won't be able to make any changes, so make sure you read these instructions very carefully!
Before you start your application, you'll need to make sure you have the following information ready and accessible:
- Your GCSE (or equivalent) grades. Make sure to include all of your subjects and grades.
- Your current A-Level (or equivalent) subjects.*
- Your parent/carer's email address. If your parent or carer does not have an email address, please ask them to create one as they will need it to complete their section of the form. If this is not possible, please contact the RO Central Team on info@realisingopportunities.ac.uk. If you live independently from parents or carers, don't worry - you won't need to include this information.
In your application you will be asked to select your subject stream for the Academic Skills Module (ASM). You will be able to choose between these four broad subject areas: Life and Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Creative Arts and Humanities, and Engineering and Physical Sciences. You can find out how to choose a subject stream by opening the PDF guide here.
To read more about the ASM, please take a look at the ASM guide for our previous cohort. Once you start the RO programme you will find out more information about the ASM.
Remember, in order to apply for RO you must be in Year 12/first year of college.
How long will the application take?
If you have all of the required information ready before you begin, the application should take you no more than 15 minutes to complete.
You can save your application and come back to it later if you need to.
Once you have completed your application, you'll receive a questionnaire via email. Please complete this as soon as you can, as you will need to do this before you can start on the programme.
Make sure you take the time to read over your application, as you won't be able to make any changes once it is submitted.
The RO Central Team will be in touch to let you know the outcome of your application by the start of January at the latest. Where possible, we will be in contact with you before this date to tell you if you have a place on the programme. If the RO universities receive more applications to the programme than they have places available, students who meet the most eligibility criteria will be prioritised.
We would like to wish you the best of luck with your application. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the RO Central Team via email on: info@realisingopportunities.ac.uk
* While Realising Opportunities (RO) welcomes applications for the RO programme from any students taking T-Levels, students should be aware that the RO universities have not yet confirmed if and/or how they will recognise T-Levels as part of standard offers or RO alternative offers. While the RO universities will endeavour to provide students with this information as soon as possible, it is anticipated that students taking T-Levels successful in gaining a place on the RO programme will begin the programme without full information about how their achievements on the programme may be recognised.
